What to buy in Iran

During your trip, you will discover Persian miniature paintings, handicrafts, and finely-made jewellery. You will also find silverware, tea-services and various decorative plates in silver and gold. Export of these items is allowed, but the amount of silver and gold leaving the country is regulated. The magnificent Persian carpets from all different areas of Iran must also be cleared by customs.

Climate

In the summer, the whole of  Iran is hot and dry. On the high plateau and in the north-west, the winter is cold. Winters are temperate but humid by the Caspian Sea and mild on the Persian Gulf. The best times to visit are from March to mid-June and from mid-September to the end of November.

Clothing

For women , the headscarf is compulsory and the recommended dress is trousers and a three quarter length raincoat. Men are advised to wear long-sleeved shirts.

Currency

The currency of the Islamic Republic of Iran is the Iranian Rial, but prices are usually indicated in 'Toman': 10 Rials=1 Toman

Photography

Apart from military installations and aerial photography, video cameras and photography are permitted.
